Year 5

In Year 5, children are encouraged to explore, question, and create as they grow in confidence and independence. Through curiosity, creativity, and teamwork, they continue to discover their talents and prepare for the final stage of primary school.

Welcome to Year 5

Class 5M:

Wow. Just like that we are about to embark another exciting school year! I am looking forward to being your child’s teacher in Year 5. This year, 5M will be supported by Mrs Turley who boasts a wealth of experience working with this age group. Her caring and supportive nature will help to develop the children’s confidence as they approach the final years of their primary school journey. I have worked at St John Vianney as a teacher for approximately 11 years, having previously worked as a HLTA. I have mainly worked in Year 2 and Year 3, so I am excited to broaden my experience by working in Upper Key Stage 2. Year 5 will be a new adventure both for the children and for myself, too! I hope to develop good relationships with the children in my care during the new academic year. In addition to being a Year 5 classroom teacher, I am the school’s Art and Spelling lead and I am passionate about developing the creative side of the children in our care. I am committed to supporting children who wish to learn a musical instrument, as well as developing children’s creative abilities within the classroom. I believe that music unlocks creativity and incorporates every subject in the curriculum. Our Year 5 classroom will be a place where we always raise the question ‘why?’ and we will be able to develop our talents and skills as we prepare ourselves for the final year of primary school. Our classroom will be a place where mistakes will be made, but confidence will be developed. I will be your child’s support within the classroom this year, strengthening the skills that they have started to use in previous years. I hope to work with you this year to allow children to reach their own full potential. Year 5, this year will be very exciting, and it will be a journey of growth for us all!

‘Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today’- Malcolm X.

It has been lovely welcoming Year 5 back after their well-deserved break this summer. We are very excited about the new academic year! The children have arrived back ready to learn and eager to find out more about our Y5 topics. Ask us about what we have been introduced to this week in Science and History! The children have settled in well, getting used to their new classrooms and finally getting back into a routine. Year 5 have produced some lovely work already and have impressed their new teachers with their prior knowledge and lovely presentation.

Class 5OK:

In my new class, I bring 14 years of teaching experience to the table, with a primary focus on Key Stage 2 education. Throughout my career, I have developed a deep passion for fostering children’s curiosity about the world around them, especially in the realm of science. As the designated Science Subject Lead, I am committed to creating an environment where students are not only encouraged to ask questions but also empowered to seek answers through exploration and discovery. My enthusiasm for igniting the spark of scientific inquiry in young minds is matched only by my interest in the arts, particularly drawing, which I believe complements and enriches the learning experience. Additionally, as an avid supporter of Blackpool FC with a cherished season ticket, I understand the importance of team spirit, dedication, and perseverance, values that I aim to instill in my students. Through a combination of my teaching experience, passion for inquiry-based learning, and personal interests, I aspire to create a calm, engaging, and welcoming classroom where every child is encouraged to succeed and flourish. One of my personal joys lies in the realm of physical education, where I relish all aspects, particularly dance. I firmly believe that physical activity not only contributes to a healthy lifestyle but also plays a vital role in a child’s holistic development. Whether it’s encouraging teamwork during a lively game of football or fostering self-expression through creative dance routines, I am dedicated to helping students discover the joy of movement. Within my classroom, I am committed to cultivating a positive atmosphere where students feel comfortable expressing themselves, both physically and academically. My goal is to provide a nurturing space where children can thrive academically, artistically, and athletically, ultimately helping them become well-rounded individuals prepared to face the challenges of the world beyond the classroom. Together, we will embark on a journey of growth, discovery, and achievement, and I am excited to see the bright futures that lie ahead for each one of my children.
