Willows – Year 1 Provision

The Willows offers a bridge between early support and wider learning. Children with an EHCP for Communication Interaction continue their learning journey through a carefully designed semi- formal and informal curriculum nurtured through love and patience.

A welcome from Miss Welsh – 

I am very pleased to be your child’s class teacher in The Willows this year and to continue supporting them throughout their time at St John Vianney Catholic Primary School. This is my second academic year teaching this class, and before becoming the class teacher, I worked alongside the children as the Higher Level Teaching Assistant. Having already spent several years getting to know the pupils and their families, I feel incredibly fortunate to continue this journey with them.

I have worked within SEND settings for over 17 years in a variety of roles. Throughout that time, I have been committed to helping children develop confidence, independence and the skills they need to succeed both in school and beyond. Every child is unique, and I strive to ensure that each pupil feels understood, respected and encouraged to achieve their personal best.

In The Willows, we focus on creating a calm, supportive and engaging learning environment where children can learn, communicate and grow at their own pace. I enjoy finding creative and practical ways to make learning meaningful and accessible, while celebrating every achievement, no matter how big or small. Building trusting relationships with pupils and their families is at the heart of my practice, and I believe that working together enables children to make the very best progress.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing netball and making memories with those closest to me. I look forward to another wonderful year in The Willows and to working together to help your child develop, achieve and enjoy their school experience.
