Welcome to Year 3

A welcome message from Mrs Bennett…
I am thrilled to be your Year 3 teacher starting this September. With 17 years of dedicated teaching experience at St. John Vianney, I am genuinely excited about the prospect of guiding your children through their Year 3 journey. My aim is to empower them to reach their full potential by fostering positive choices and encouraging them to embrace the multitude of learning opportunities Year 3 has to offer. This academic year in Class 3B, teaching and learning will be supported by the presence of Miss Hargen, who is new to St. John Vianney. the year, we will embark on a remarkable journey filled with learning, creativity, and, of course, plenty of fun! I am eager to get to know each and every one of your children, and I value the importance of building strong, positive relationships not only with your children but also with you, their parents and families. By working together collaboratively, we can ensure that this year is truly wonderful for everyone involved. In my classroom, I lay the foundation of respect and a willingness to listen and learn. I encourage the children to embrace our school rules of ‘ready, respectful, and safe’ at all times, fostering an environment where learning can not only flourish but thrive, making it a safe and enjoyable space for all. I have a keen passion for teaching French and Geography, subjects that allow children to explore and understand the fascinating world we live in and take pride in leading these curriculum areas across the whole school. I believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom walls, and I am committed to providing your children with opportunities to discover and appreciate the wonders of our world. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!
At St John Vianney we believe everything we do is for the greater glory of God and through Jesus we seek to grow as a caring Catholic community in faith and love; knowledge and understanding; aspiration and independence.

I’m Mrs Hulme, the class teacher, and I’m thrilled to be guiding your children through this exciting year of growth and learning. Supporting us in class are the wonderful Miss Dawe, Mr Hitchon, and Mr Ogden, who all play a vital role in helping your child thrive. Year 3 is a special time when children begin to develop greater independence, and we’ll be encouraging them to become confident, reflective learners through metacognitive strategies. Oracy is another key focus this year, helping children to express themselves clearly and build strong communication skills. As the school’s RE lead, I especially cherish the moments spent in prayer with the children—whether in the chapel or during class worship. These times allow us to grow spiritually and strengthen our classroom community. Outside of school, I’m a proud mum of four and love spending time with my own children. I also enjoy keeping active through Pilates and going to the gym. I’m passionate about creating a nurturing and inspiring environment for your child, and I’m always happy to chat—please feel free to speak to me at the end of the day or contact me via the school office if you have any questions or concerns. We can’t wait to support your child on their journey this year!
