Welcome to our website, designed to keep our parents, families, parish and our wider community members in touch with all the wonderful things happening in our school. Our password-protected class blogs can be accessed via the website and give you more information as to what is happening in your child’s class, including work undertaken, class visits and awards received.
St John Vianney’s is a larger than average Catholic primary school in the heart of Blackpool, which our children, staff, parish and governors are really proud of. The school was identified as ‘Outstanding’ in our most recent Diocesan inspection and Good with Outstanding Behaviour and Safety in our latest Ofsted inspection (July 2014).
As a Catholic school, the teachings of Jesus Christ are central to all that we practise in school. We are proud to say that this year we have over 80 children participating in both the Holy Eucharist and Sacrament of Reconciliation programmes. We have also had 9 of our children recently baptised in Year 3, showing it is never too late to do this.
This is a very important time in our liturgical calendar as Lent begins on Ash Wednesday during half-term. We will be celebrating this special day during the first week back and using Lent to think about our Lenten Promises; what we can do without and what we can do to help others. We will also be trying to pray more.
Our mission statement, ‘Seeking Growth Together through Jesus’, recognises that education is a partnership between the child, school and home, and we place a great deal of emphasis on this partnership. Parents are welcome to come into school anytime to experience the friendly atmosphere and ethos we try so hard to nurture at St John Vianney’s. We have a Parent Focus Group, which meets on the last working Wednesday of the month. For more information, please go to Parents - LPPA on the website. If you would like to become even more involved in the school, please feel free to join either of these groups.
