A massive welcome to Year 2! We hope that you had a great summer and that you are ready for the hard work ahead! The teachers in Year 2 are:
2H – Teacher and Year 1&2 Team Leader- Miss Hornby and Mrs Armitage (Teaching Assistant)
2W – Teacher Mr Walsh and Mrs Unsworth (Teaching Assistant)
We have also Mrs Martin, Mrs Blyth and Miss Kearns who will be teaching PPA.
Your child is a valuable member of our class and we hope that you already know you are more than welcome into school to ask any questions or discuss any concerns you may have. Our open door policy at School is something which is of real importance to us, you will find us both on the door at the end of the school day or feel free to make an appointment through the school office if you feel we need more time to discuss and deal with something.
Both classes have a Maths monkey. This monkey will come home on a Friday to the following Wednesday. The monkey will be in a bag which will contain a selection of maths equipment for you to use with your child. Please feel free to write in what activities that you have covered with the Monkey and we will share it with the class.
Our topic for this half term is called ‘Terrific Trekkers’. This looks at how explorers have changed our world and we will be focussing on Neil Armstrong and Sir Edmund Hillary. We are planning on going on a trip to somewhere where you reach the stars and need a head for heights! All will be revealed! J
Homework/Curriculum/Topic Comments Section
Our homework is the same each week. Each week the children will have 8 spelling words and their red book. In their book there will be Maths work from the week, Literacy and RE/Topic. If there is any problems with the homework please let the teachers know as soon as possible.
All Year 2 children need a named PE Kit in a bag to be kept in school for this half term. Our PE days are Wednesdays. No Jewellery can be touched at school so we ask that parents remove at home.
