Class 1HA

Hello! We are very excited to welcome you to Year 1!

Mr Hardwick and Mrs Hulme would like to welcome you to 1HA and 1HU.

We are very lucky to also have Mrs Carney and Mrs Rudkin working with us in our classrooms.

This week we have been building relationships and getting to know all of our lovely pupils.

The children have all settled into their new classrooms and we are looking forward to seeing what they can achieve in our exciting lessons.

It is very important to us that you know we regard your child as valuable member of our class and we hope that you already know you are more than welcome into school to ask any questions or discuss any concerns you may have. We would like to let all parents know that we have an open door policy at School and you will find us both on the door at the end of the school day if you would like a quick chat or feel free to make an appointment through the school office if you feel we need more time to discuss and deal with something.

Meet the Teacher

There will be an opportunity to meet the full Year 1 team on the 18th September and a chance for you to be updated on the important changes that will happen for your child now they have made the transition from the Foundation Stage and Early Years to Key Stage 1.

Our Class Mascots – ‘Scuffy Bear’ 1HA and ‘Crocky the Crocodile’ 1HU

‘Scruffy Bear’ and ‘Crocky’ will go home with a child on a Friday who has behaved superbly throughout the week! We will send our class mascots home with a bag and a challenge to complete. Feel free to add photographs or tickets etc. of any places visited as well as completing the challenge. The children enjoy hearing all about ‘Scruffy’, ‘Crocky’ and their weekend adventures back in school on Monday!

Curriculum

Build a Bonfire
Our first topic for the Autumn Term is Build a Bonfire. We will be learning all about Guy Fawkes and his plot to bring down the Houses of Parliament.

Please read carefully our Curriculum Overview for this topic.

PE

All Year 1 children need a named PE Kit in a bag to be kept in school for this half term. Our PE day is Tuesday. No Jewellery can be touched at school so we ask that parents remove at home.

You can see what we are up to in school if you follow us on Twitter!
